Referral Program for Afghans Seeking Tertiary level Health Care in India
In view of the problems faced by thousands of Afghans who travel to India every year, for tertiary-level health care, In January 2010, IbnSina Afghanistan initiated a special referral program through which it links Afghan patients travelling to Delhi, with hospitals like Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Max Hospital, and The Alchemist Cardiac Institute, with all of which, IbnSina has signed Memoranda of Understanding.  Patients thus referred, have the advantage of receiving quality care at affordable cost, without undue waste of time and resources.  They are also provided translator services free if cost, when needed.  IbnSina’s sole purpose in this project, is to protect Afghan patients in India from unscrupulous business practices at the hands of private practitioners and middle men in India, who have been known to take advantage of the patient’s unfamiliarity with the medical facilities and their cost in India, and/or communication constraints due to dependence on translators and interpreters.
