INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH CONFRENCES

In October 2007, for the first time in the history of Afghanistan, the IbnSina IPHMS organized an international public health conference in Kabul Afghanistan, inviting delegates and speakers from neighboring countries such as Pakistan, India, Tajikistan, to exchange information about new findings in the area of public health, and to participate in discussions and dialogue, in an effort to promote awareness about the importance of public health issues and advance research and studies on subjects related to public health, so that new and innovative solutions may be found for everyday health issues faced by so many third world nations like Afghanistan.

In November 2008, the second International Public Health conference was held, this time in a rare public partnership with the Afghan Public Health Institute of the Ministry of Public Health.

The two Institutes (IPHMS and APHI) are now all set to convene the third Annual International Conference on Public Health, on December 06 and 07, 2009.

These Conferences, which have proved to be an excellent platform for professional and academic exchanges between experts from Afghanistan and other countries in the past two years, have also resulted in the evolution of a unique partnership between a public sector and a private sector institution of higher learning and research.  The two institutions have undertaken to take the lead in forging productive partnerships between public and private sector institutions, for the common objective of promoting academic advancement and public health issues in Afghanistan and the region.
