IbnSina Afghanistan is registered as an international NGO in Tajikistan, and is exploring the possibilities of offering its expertise in the public health and training sectors, to help build the public health capacity of Tajikistan.  In the past couple of years, IbnSina’s IPHMS has conducted six different short training courses for health care professionals and managers in Tajikistan.  Participants included senior government officials, NGO and UN staff, as well as representatives from organizations in Kirghizstan and Kazakhstan.  Two Tajik doctors even travelled to Kabul to attend a certificate training course in Basic Ultrasound.

Since the massive and devastating earthquake in 2005, up to mid-2009, IbnSina Afghanistan was a significant actor in the rehabilitation and establishment process of the basic health care structure in the earthquake-affected North West Frontier Province of Pakistan.  It set up model rural basic health care centers, and trained local staff to provide quality primary health care to residents of some remote villages, so much so that these trained health workers have been able to successfully take over the responsibility of running the health facilities established by IbnSina, following the end of the donor-supported projects in Pakistan.

In addition to these, IbnSina Afghanistan has forged professional and academic linkages with other institutions in South Asia.  It has collaborative partnerships with The Institute of Management Sciences (IMS) in Peshawar Pakistan, in collaboration with which, the IbnSina IPHMS is offering the second and third rounds of the Masters in Public Health program, in Kabul, as well as with the Indian Institute of Health Management and Research (IIHMR) in Jaipur India.  IbnSina’s IPHMS is also a member of the TESA (Teaching Evaluation in south Asia) consortium, and is an active member of the curriculum development committee.
