Though in the past IbnSina Afghanistan has undertaken a wide range of health-related research studies, including baseline and project end surveys and the research studies done by the MPH students, it has yet to develop itself in the field of formal scientific research. Developing its research capabilities is one of IbnSina’s priorities in the coming months and years. IbnSina plans for its Institute of Public Health and Management Sciences (IPHMS), to be a center of scientific research, with a highly qualified and experienced research team.
As a beginning, it has contracted a research scientist, Dr. R. S. Goyal, from the Indian Institute of Health Management and Research, to provide research and training consultancy to the IbnSina IPHMS, on an on-going basis, and prepare the groundwork, which will eventually enable the IbnSina IPHMS to undertake independent research studies of a credible quality.
